Hello Summer! I hope you all are excited for Summer as much as I am. All those finals had me stressing like no other! Time for rest, no worries, and much traveling. If you like adventure like me, what better way then to go to Europe. Better yet, backpacking.

Here are 5 tips to get you started on your trip.

1. Be Budget Conscious

I’m not saying plan down to every penny spent, but do have an estimate. Know what will be cheaper, the bus or the plane? What about the hotels? Do they have free wi-fi and meals included? In my opinion you’re better off going with a hostel. There are some great cheap hostels all around Europe that have all sorts of travel packages included. Who knows, maybe you’ll find other exploring travelers like yourself.

*If you stop in London, go check out the one I stayed at, highly recommended: The Duke of York! Great staff, rooms, and a great bar where you get to meet people from all over the world!

2. Pack Light

No, you do not need those 6 inch heels, girls. If you’re going to Europe for a short amount of time, you want to make sure you can walk around in whatever shoes you have. Look up the weather ahead of time. If it’s going to be cold, remember to pack your jackets, a few shirts, some pants, and tennis shoes. You do not need to take extravagant clothes. Sure, you can take one or two dress items, but don’t stalk up. Bring something versatile like a button up shirt (for the men) or a cute black top (for the ladies). You don’t want to carry around a heavy backpack everywhere you go. Plus, who knows, you might want to go shopping while you’re there. I know I did.

Backpacking3.  Plan Ahead

Know where you want to go, how you want to get there, and when you want to go. Make a schedule, search up museums and prices so it won’t catch you off guard. Don’t forget that it is Summer, so the tourist level will be off the roof. Give yourself time to plan ahead in order to avoid all the long lines at the famous attractions. You want to stay a few days in a city? Plan it. We all like adventure, but we still need some idea of where we want to go.

4. Be safe

Make sure to take a lock for your suitcases if your’e afraid of people stealing. Also ,be careful with your passport and ID’s. Loosing them is basically loosing your life. Take only the necessary out with you and leave the rest where you are staying. No one wants to get attention from pick-pocketer’s. Make sure you know where your stuff is at all times.

5. Have fun

It’s summer, you’re in a new Country, so have fun! Visit everywhere you can, whenever you want! Look up special deals on museums, restaurants and shows. Europe is popular for it’s free museums, all you have to do is look up which ones they are.

StudentUniverse has many tours for this summer that you don’t want to miss. Some tours are even on sale now, so if you hurry you might even still have time to book them! Check them out and take your friends with you. If your’e a daredevil, then head on over and go on your own to experience a once in a life time even! Have a good summer, be safe, and don’t get too wild!
